With the divine blessings and benign guidance of Sri Paramacharya Maha Swamigal Jagadguru Pujya Sri Sri Sri Chandra sekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal, Jagadguru Pujya Sri Sri Sri Jeyendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Jagadguru Pujya Sri Sri Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, Sri Sankara Vidyalaya, Puducherry, a co-education school (a Unit of Sri Sankara Educational Trust, Chennai) was established in the year 1990 at ‘Sankarar Kulam’ in Mahatma Gandhi Road.  The beginnings of all great things are very small. True to this saying we started as a Primary School in a thatched shed with a meagre strength of just 24 students. What started as a tiny droplet has grown now as a full fledged river and has branched into 3 tributaries one in Mahatma Gandhi Road, second at Rangapillai Street and the third in the ECR. Established as a Primary school we gradually and steadily grew as a Middle, High and then as a Higher Secondary School.  It was in 2000 we have started classes from VI to XII in the ECR campus and in 2002 we have expanded from Pre KG to XII in the ECR.

This is absolutely a non-profit, service Institution imparting high-quality modern education in English Medium, blended with tradition, culture, moral, religious and cultural values of our illustrious Nation. The school has taken huge strides since its inception and now stands as a model Institution serving the cause of education with diligence, dedication and distinction in the Union Territory of Puducherry.

 In the SSLC Board Examinations and Higher Secondary Board Examinations, with the divine grace of Sri Kamakshi & the Acharyas of the Sri Kanchi Kama Kotti Peedam we have been achieving cent percent result year after year.  Many students secure distinction and first class. Besides academic excellence, our students have been earning laurels in co-curricular activities too.

The Management has introduced modern audio-visual aids like Digi board to facilitate easy and effective learning at all levels, yet keeping the school fees to the minimum among the hundreds of other Private schools despite Government aid.  The Sankara Educational Trust is fully committed to provide high quality education at the most affordable fees to benefit the middle and lower-middle class families. 

We presently have a student strength of 1200 with 63 qualified Teaching and 16 Non-Teaching Staff. 

Supporting the clarion call of the Hon’ble PM, we have provided clean and hygienically maintained toilet blocks.

We have separate Labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer provided with enough equipments and materials.

We have Smart Boards enabling smart learning and we have student accessible computers.

We celebrate maximum National, Regional and cultural festivals enthusiastically participated by students and staff.
